IN LESS THAN 50 WORDS:
Alright, this was the 7th trek of 2026 and the 5th first ascent. Anchetty Durgam is a beautiful hillock. Very easy trek trains. The hillock almost overlooks the train tracks and the road, offering an excellent view from the top. Our chapter was an ultra-smooth one, even though it involved a last-minute change of direction. It is one of the forts in a line of a string of fortresses of Baramahal, now known as Krishnagiri district.
INTRO & PLAN:
After a marathon trek in January 2026 (Bhasmangi, Minchukallu, Nidagal, Acchalu, Kengal and Hiregundagal), the spirit of the loapers was burning bright and hot. Had a weekday trek planned, but got cancelled due to work. Then the weekend it was. Asked Bhai if he was okay for a small forthill in Kanakapura / Mysore Road? And he said "OK". But on the previous night, his bike didn't start. Hence, we had to play the scoop shot, took out the old dusty diary and picked a place from it towards Hosur Road, and I decided to pick up Anwar en route this time :)

ASSEMBLE & LEAVE:
Yes, got up at 03:00, did a few push-ups and pull-ups, had a sip of coffee, and left home at 05:00. The funny part is, Bhai hadn't even asked which place we were heading to. I cruised along at a decent pace in the cold and darkness, listening to some Goth metal, singing at the top of my lungs via BTM and Silk board to reach Attibele. We decided to have a light breakfast at a small gaadi near the office itself.

RIDE 1: (Bangalore > Attibele > TVS > Anchetty Durgam)
After Bhai picked up at Attibele, only about 30-35km of the ride was left. So we cruised along very slowly taking about work and other stuff. And yeah, NO GMAPS. Either we end up at the place unassisted or spend the rest of the day asking locals and trying to search the place - these were the rules of the game. Despite all the chatting, we executed each turn to perfection. We were greeted by warm sunrays as we entered Anchetty Durgam. Parking our bikes at the centre of town and asking the locals the trail route, we awoke the lizard's spirit within us and were ready for the trek!

| The start of the trek |
As we started the trek, the sun rose. The trail is very easy and consists of rocky phases, and the last phase has steps. It took us 15 minutes to reach the top. But the trail is really beautiful and runs through some dense vegetation. At a few places, you can see the narrow restriction to prevent mass entry of soldiers - guerrilla warfare techniques at its best.

TOP:
The winds picked up, and we were taken aback by what views a small climb can offer. And as we settled down and hydrated ourselves. Bhai pulled out another surprise - Khova filled Dilpasand. It was super good. As we munched on it, Bhai asked, "Which place is this?". I smiled and said, "Anchetty Durgam". Haha, sometimes, the most superb chapter is often scripted when the direction we take goes opposite. We spent an hour at the top of the hillock before deciding to head back down.

DESCENT:
The descent took us again 15minutes as well. Could we have spent another 2-3 hours at the summit? Yes, absolutely, but we don't play that game. We get the job done, relax and return. We don't linger around, waiting for the aura to spoil. However, we enjoyed the game of playing like dumb soldiers getting their butt kicked at Anchetty Durgam. As we descended to flat lands, we thanked her from the bottom of our hearts for the experience, promising her a return, we were ready to head back.

RIDE 2: (Anchetty Durgam > Attibele > Bangalore)
The 65km ride back was a very smooth one. We intentionally rode slowly as we didn't want to close the chapter. Finding a hidden gem like this hillock, after changing the direction, felt special. But as we pulled over at Attibele, Bhai and I decided to skip beer this time. And putting in some Goth metal dove into the heavy traffic of Bangalore and reached home safely :)

CONCLUSION:
The 7th trip of 2026. And more importantly 5th first ascent, special start for 2026. And the most chilling part of this chapter is that I had locked a place on Kanakapura road, but it never sat on this weekend. Then Bhai's trouble with the bike and the calling of ANchetty, can be a coincidence, but no doubt there was PULL when this place's name was seen on the dusty diary.
KREW:
Bhai: Was totally happy with the screw up of the bike :P haha, otherwise we would never have come to this hill. And asking the hillock's name after we ascended it, haha pure old school stuff!
Sippy: Never had thought a last-minute change of direction in total 360 degrees would lead to such a chapter. Plan B to Plan A+. 19 weeks, 19 treks baby \m/
Until next time, Ta-da Cia \m/
