IN LESS THAN 50 WORDS:

Alright, this was a very peaceful chapter. No chaos as the last two (Achalu Betta and Chaluva Betta). With Zethu returning for the road trips, we kept the trek moderate. But Yathiraja Swamy Betta proved to be very beautiful with zero people.  And this marked 25 weeks, 25 treks, 6 months, non-stop, 5000km, marathon since Oct 12th, 2025. This was our 13th trek in 13 weeks for 2026, with 11 first ascents. Let's GO \m/

INTRO & PLAN:

After last week's chaos at Chaluvanarayanaswamy betta, in search of a leopard's den, we still felt like rolling on. When asked, the ever energetic Dattu and Old School Zethu confirmed. After some late-night banter on who will be pulling off a pedigree or stunner tomorrow, we decided to meet at Bidadi for breakfast directly.

ASSEMBLE & LEAVE:

Yes, I was up by 03:30, did some hanging leg raises, which have become my go-to lately. Had a sip and left my home at 5am sharp. As I put in my earbuds, my phone was playing a lullaby. I was like, NO NO. Switched to the playlist with some Motorhead, Slayer, old Metallica, Megadeth, Kreator, COB and Rammstein. Yeah, felt the energy and left home. The cruise felt energetic and reached Bidadi by 6am. With 30 minutes to kill for Dattu and Chethu to arrive, I stood roadside and played with some dogs.  Once Chethu and Dattu arrive, we greeted each other and then were all set to belt on some yummy idly vada.

RIDE 1: (Bidadi > Dharapura > Yathiraja Swamy Betta)

Having 30km to Bidadi already, the mental load felt light. We sat down munching on Idlis and speaking all sorts of topics - IPL, Deefu being back in town as well, Old Karaoke parties we had, where neighbours had complained etc haha.

Post breakfast, the ride was absolutely calm and scenic. We took a right deviation towards Dharapura. And yes, NO GMAPS. We glided through the small towns like a hot knife on butter, embracing the freshness and richness of the countryside. Without missing a single turn or without asking locals, we made it to the base of Yathirajaswamy betta. Parking our bikes at the base, we awoke the lizard's spirit and were all set for the trek.

YATHIRAJA SWAMY BETTA TREK

ASCENT:

The ascent took us about 20 minutes. The hillock is a small one, with a very smooth incline. It perfectly fit into the plan for the day. We wanted something lightweight, but not very light weight as well. Yathirajaswamy Betta offers great views of the surrounding peaks in the Ramanagara district that keep your spirit high.

The trek began at around 07:30, and we paced ourselves well. Having nothing to do for the whole day, we began picking on each other, recollecting old school days, PokΓ©mon, Dragon Ball Z. With Chethu around, it felt like having a big brother protecting you. Slowly and steadily, we inched our way, and lo and behold, we could spot the top.

TOP:

The view from the top was amazing. Even though the trek was easy, it proved to be worth it. We did a quick round up of the place and found a nice place to crash. We hydrated and continued the banter. After 15-20 minutes, we shifted the base to another part of the hill to assimilate more of the tranquillity that was hitting us hard now. So peaceful it was. And just to spice things up, we descended an almost vertical face to an extremely scenic viewpoint.  After resting here for about 20-25 minutes, we decided to head back down.

DESCENT:

Well before the descent, Chethu and I looked at each other, and we knew the plan. I asked Dattu for his phone (CAMERA), and unsuspecting Dattu walked right into the trap. Chethu pulled off some wild WWF moves, and we all sat down laughing. The descent took only 20minutes. The scenes being hearty and with hillocks painted on the horizon 360 degrees, it was a pure mood elevator. Making our way back to the bike, we thanked the hillock for a rich experience and for LETTING US GO. We promised her a return and took off from Yathiraja Swamy betta.

RIDE 2: (Yathiraja Swamy Betta > Ramanagara > Bangalore)

So, the ride back was a smooth one. We didn't retrace the path back; we decided to go ahead, hoping it would join the main Mysore road. And it did. From then on it was pure cruising to Bangalore. We pulled over at our regular bar for some ice-cold beers at 10:15 AM.

With Chetu having returned from the Masai Mara (Kenya), it was fun listening to all his stories. We spent about 2.5 hours speaking about school days, old trips, and current life. By the way, Chethu and Dattu are part of some of the greatest chapters this club has ever seen. After a long session, we decided to split ways, thanked each other for the company and left home.

CONCLUSION:

This was more of a reunion through a trek at Yathiraja Swamy Betta. The hillock was pleasant, and the views it offered were terrific. The smooth ascent, the banter, the wwf moves at the summit all made this trip a crazy one.

Past 25 weeks, we have pulled off 25 treks, 5000km in total, 6 months, non-stop. How do we feel, ALIVE AND GIMME A HELL YEAH \m/

KREW:

Dattu: For the endurance machine, this was like a morning stroll in the park. The energy he bought to trip is insane. And his theories on the mestri's work were the highlight.

Chethu: Perfect welcome back for Chethu, it had been some weeks since we caught up. A pleasant Friday morning :)

Sippy: Was very happy with the find. The timing of the strike was right as there were zero people. And it was a weekday.  25 weeks, 25 treks, the fire burns on \m/

Until next time, Ta-da Cia \m/
