IN LESS THAN 50 WORDS:

A fantastic school friend reunion to welcome the summer of 2017. Despite fears of the river being dry, Mahadevapura had just enough water for a peaceful nap in the flowing Kaveri. A perfect cooling-down session to start the season!

INTRO & PLAN:

After months of pestering Ashok, he was finally free after his exams. We decided a water spot was essential to get our rhythm back. Deefu joined in, and we headed for Mahadevapura, though we kept a Plan B and C ready in case the river was dry.

ASSEMBLE & LEAVE:

Woke up at 05:00 for some quick prep. We met at the RR Nagar arch by 7 AM. Traffic has increased significantly on these routes lately, so we gathered at Decathlon before finally departing the city.
TIME: 07:30

RIDE 1: (Bangalore – Bidadi – Mandya - Mahadevapura)

A 135km cruise down the familiar Mysore Road. Dense traffic lasted for the first 15km but cleared up as we hit Bidadi. We pulled over for our ritualistic tasty breakfast.
TIME: 08:45

Breakfast stop on Mysore Road

We spent breakfast catching up on Ashok's hilarious stories from his time away. The air turned hot as we cruised through Ramanagara and Channapatna. After a quick tea break past Maddur, we hit the maze-like interior roads leading to the river.
TIME: 10:30

The crew ready for the ride

As we approached the Mahadevapura Bridge, seeing water in the river lit up our moods! Even though levels were low, the flow was fast—perfect for getting in. We reached the Anicut shortly after.

MAHADEVAPURA:

With construction happening at the anicut, water was only flowing through the gates. We hiked along the river for 20 minutes to find a secluded spot. We waded through knee-deep water with a surprisingly strong current to reach a perfect boulder spot.

Relaxing in the flowing Kaveri river

We spent an hour lying in the river, letting the water crash against our backs while reminiscing about school days. We dried up, shared some juice, and headed back to the main road.
TIME: 14:30

RIDE 2: (Mahadevapura – Ramanagara – Bangalore)

On the way back, we challenged Ashok to navigate the maze of interior roads. To our surprise, he got almost every turn right! We hit the highway and stopped at our regular dhaba for a well-earned lunch.
TIME: 15:00

Lunch at the highway dhaba

Smooth sailing back as the sun set. A final tea break at Ramanagara and a quick goodbye at the NICE road deviation concluded the trip. We split up and headed home.

Until next time, Ciao \m/
