IN LESS THAN 50 WORDS:

Alright, for the 250th Chapter and Bhai's 25th Chapter with us, we chose Maharajakadai Fort. It is a massive fort hill situated near Krishnagiri. It is well-known for elephants, so yeah, it made the trek so much more fun. But to be frank, we had underestimated it; it was a true grinder, alright!

Note: Go post 7am for two reasons: elephant activity and not to get electrocuted by the wires meant for elephants.

And this marked 41 weeks, 42 treks, ~9.5 months, non-stop, since Oct 12th, 2025. This was our 30th trek in 29 weeks for 2026, with 27 first ascents. :)

INTRO & PLAN:

Well, the Grand TN expedition was in full roar (Rayakottai, Anchetty Durgam, Ratnagiri Malaikottai, Udedurgam, Mallapadi, Jagadevi Fort, Thattakal Fort, AnkushagiriPeriyamalai , Virabhadra Fort). Bhai had confirmed his presence for the weekend trek, with this being the 250th chapter, and Bhai's 25th chapter (in 272 days), we decided to continue the Grand TN expedition.

With Bhai, the planning is simple. On 10 Jul, 2026 called Bhai:

Sippy: "Bhai, tomorrow, Maharajakadai, karenge?

Bhai: "Anything is fine, same time?"

Bhai is a simple person. And that is what makes him a key and important krew in theloapers \m/

TIME: 19:30 (10 July, 2026)

Happy Sippy after the 250th Chapter :)

ASSEMBLE & LEAVE:

Yeah, I was up by 3:30AM. Stretched out a little listening to some slow doom metal (full volume) - sorry neighbours, haha. Then got ready, had a sip of coffee, went down and gently wiped my bike. Kissed her on the dome, another constant companion on all our 250 chapters. Listening to some more doom metal, glided through the traffic for the first 30km to reach Bhai's place in Attibele at about 5:00

RIDE 1: (Bangalore > Hosur > Krishnagiri > Maharajakadai)

Well, the rest of the 90- 95 km was actually smooth, unlike the Virabhadra time warp haha.  As usual, with the NO GOOGLE MAPS rule strictly in place, we cruised at a decent pace, chatting all the way, jibbing in between vehicles to reach Krishnagiri. It was too early, and no breakfast spots were open.

So we cruised along and enquired in about 6-7 shops; none were ready. Finally we sat at a small eatery, surrounded by beautiful fields, and the first batch of idlys was steaming up.  We just sat there taking in the environment, felt so good. No hurries and worries; we watched the couple cook with care, the dogs roamed around, few chickens looked confused. It was a very pure wave of emotions flooding our systems.

First batch of idlys coming up :)

After the first batch of idlis was ready and we had waited around 20 minutes, two people from nowhere came and asked for 20 Idlis to be packed and FAST, saying he would pay in cash and not use a phone. The first payment of the day, getting in cash, is sentimental.
The aunty of the place started yelling at him, pointing at us, saying, "These two people are waiting patiently for so long; how dare you barge in and demand?" Our hearts melted looking at the aunty fighting for us; also, we had made a new enemy haha :) We chowed down on the idlis and asked how much it was: 40 Rupees for 8 idlis. Price apart, they were really tasty, and they really fed us with care and wanted us to eat more. But with the trek around the corner, we bid adieu to the lovely couple, paying them in cash and parked our bike near the base of the hill at a temple. Awakening the goat's spirit, we were set for the trek :)

MAHARAJAKADAI FORT TREK

ASCENT:

Well, this trek is a grinder for sure. And it passes through forests with elephants. So, yeah, we wanted to catch one, haha. We took about 75 minutes to summit, with two big breaks in between. We sat down to just take in the beauty that presented as we ascended. So, yeah, time aside, enjoy the trek at your own pace and be careful of the animals.  Like always, I have divided the ascent into the following sections. LETS GO \m/

The electric fence to prevent elephants entering the town.

Phase 1: The Initial Trail

The initial part of the trek is spooky. To start things off, we walked past some of the fields, which was very pleasant, and then we spotted some man-made steps which led up. Excited, we ran full speed, to only stop dead in our tracks. There was a line of wires drawn from the main electric wire. This was to prevent elephants from entering the temple and town premises. Asked Bhai if I could just touch it a the shock is generally regulated; he looked at me, confused, parted the wires with a wooden stick and asked me to get through :)

The trail further is ancient stone ways; the trail as such is a clear and beautiful one. But one has to be careful here as it is the forest zone and, if lucky, one could spot an elephant. As we went deeper into the forest, the silence and the forest embraced us fully. It was spooky. There were clear arrows painted on boulders showing the direction. And true to our spirit, we ignored one of the arrows and went deeper into the forest; we had to retrace our steps and then proceed again :)

The views kept getting better :)

Phase 2: The Railings assisted Grinder

Well, post the initial stretch, you get the rock face grinder. There are some rock steps and boulders even in the initial stretch, but this is where the canopy of the forest opens up. We finally felt the wind; it cooled us down. And we had gained some elevation, the views of the surrounding hillocks mesmerised us, so we just sat down and talked about how trekking is such a holistic hobby to pursue.  Then we ground through the 2 sets of railing-assisted grinders, without the railings of course ;)

Phase 3: The Summit Push

After the second grinding phase, we were drained but were grinding on. With sweat dripping down our foreheads like a stream, we took each step as it came. Then we realised something: the summit is still very far haha. Now, this last stretch is a bit tricky; the arrows fade and are far from each other. So, we had to look around and mark things, as this would help us return back. The last stretch took us past the second fort wall, and then, pushing step by step, we reached the summit :)

We have summited :)

TOP:

Reaching the top flooded our senses with relief. The wind speeds had picked up, and we needed to rest. Paying our respects to the deity on top, we took off our jackets, weighed a ton like Goku's with all the sweat, and put them to dry. We hydrated and simply crashed. The winds blew the grass, and the grass kept caressing our faces, and what a deep, nice sleep it was. We slept for about 45 minutes and then woke up. Bhai whipped out some baked samosas for snacks that he had packed from home. As we munched on, a red-faced monkey came out of nowhere; all three of us ate the snacks and decided to head back :)

TIME: 10:15

Grind ON is what we believe.

DESCENT:

The descent was a tricky one. Remember the directional arrows are painted far off as you reach the summit. So, the mental markers came in handy. One rule we use on such trails is the "dirty thoughts technique" - we attach dirty thoughts to objects we find on our ascent (with pure intent, of course); this helps us retrace our steps back. And retrace the steps we did to almost perfection. It took us about 60 minutes to descend, and it was done smoothly, but yeah, we felt dehydrated owing to the hot day.

Bhai's perfect 25th Chapter :)

Reaching the base, wanted so badly to touch one of the wires and feel the shock. But Bhai spoke some sense, and we reached back the bikes.  There were some cows and calves happily sleeping; on our arrival, they woke up, then I tried to play with them. Some were welcoming, and some got spooked. Bhai had to pull me out again, haha. We looked back at the hillock one final time, thanked her for the superb experience and, more importantly, "LETTING US GO BACK".

RIDE 2: Maharajakadai Fort > Krishnagiri > Bangalore)

This was a clean, smooth 120 kms ride back. We retraced our exact route, with a hydration stop in between. To celebrate the 250th chapter and Bhai's 25th Chapter with us, we pulled over at a dhaba near Chandapura for some ice-cold beer and lunch. Post which rode back solo and we reached our respective homes :)

CONCLUSION:

Well, the Grand TN expedition is something else. Every hillock is presenting something new and moulding us into new beings. The Maharajakadai fort trek was a grinder for sure. It is not a small hill. The directions are clear, which might make one feel a sense of security, but definitely a crazy hillock I tell you!

Past 41 weeks, we have pulled off 42 treks, ~8500 kms in total, ~9.5 months, non-stop. The Flame lives on \m/

KREW:

Bhai: A Big Congrats to Bhai on completing the 25th Chapter with us. The fastest in 272 days (~9.5months). Had to be him for this trek to celebrate the surge he is responsible for over the past 41 weeks. He should be named Sharief Bhai :)

Sippy: Took us 17 years to pull 250 chapters off, and the literal peak we are finding now, with 42 treks in 41weeks and no signs of fatigue, it literally feels like floating on a "FLYING NIMBUS" - pure heart, strong soul will always take you higher.

Before we end this chapter here are 10 crazy chapters, Bhai has been on; give it a read.
